Report: | With the Pavillion’s heating faculties experiencing some gremlins this match was played under tropical conditions. In the First rubber Kevin and Mike battled each other to a standstill. The match which contained more determination than quality strokes was won by Kev in the fifth, after a good start took him 8/0 up. Meanwhile another battle was going on between Mark and Mike Collins in the Third rubber. This topsy-turvy match was eventually won by the Pavillionian 10/8 in the fifth after coming back from 8/1 down. Gerald’s supreme form continued, keeping his head and dominating the 2nd Rubber from start to finish. The story was similar for Parklangley at 4 with Nick never really getting to grips with Erdal’s range of shots, and taking only 8 points in the whole match. The fifth string was closely fought with the first game the key to the match. John showing some good touches in the 3rd game but he was unable to push on and claim victory. |
