Report: | Paul Weymonth vs w/o
As predicted, this game was always going to be a quick affair. Paul was up for the game, as he was on the first leg at BLTC. Unfortunately the first leg was called off and Paul left the club feeling dejected, rejected and pi...ed off. The 2nd affair at Old Elth was going to be a big one for Paul and BLTC didn't disappoint. The game was again a walk over and Paul kept his 100% record against BLTC.
Andy McClean vs Mark Winkless
Unfortunately I didn't see this game as I myself was on court. However I did hear the game going on (shouts) and I was making notes of the annoyance of Mark at his lack of racket skills on the evening. Andy as always gave it his all and didn't disappoint in any way. His basketball pumps, which were stolen prior to the game, were returned and Andy was relieved (finding size 88 pumps to fit his feet is a long drawn out affair and these specific pumps were mail ordered from some far away land across the water) Regardless of this long drawn out to the max saga, the game was quick and another 3 points to Old Elth. Old is an understatement by the way - the average age of the team is 76!
Keith Hibberd vs Kevin Ford
Keith is firing on all cylinders at the moment. I've heard on the squash grape vine that he's getting coaching from this young hansom squash coach going by the name of genious. Keith played pretty well, he could have kept his racket up more, looked where his opponent was and could have been a tad more on the T, however he did the job, played some cracking shots and looked better than in previous weeks. Nice one captain.
Dave status quo Wyman vs Paul Webb
Its only occured to me recently how much Dave Wyman looks like Francis Rossi from status quo, and the age gap isn't far wrong either. Dave is a fine player, though isn't playing much at this current time. His toe by the way has been playing him up a bit, doesn't know how, doesn't know why. I on the other hand have my own little theory of this major problem that's hit our No2. His dear wife, who by the way is a lovely, attractive, intellegent women, and supporter of the team has been known to beat Dave on occasions and I believe, though my contacts have been known to be wrong in the past, that his building work at home was running so far behing that he was grounded from leaving the house and beaten to a pulp. About the game - twas okay I suppose, not much length, width, desire, but the game went his way, unlike his poor opponant who injured his leg during the first. another 3 points to the Old elth's - did I tell thee the story of our teams average age !
Jeremy Tucker vs Kelvin Wilson
Jeremy was firing on all cylinders again and was up for getting on court earlier than in previous weeks. The match started off well and Jeremy (I) won the first 2 games 9-7, 9-7. The game was going only one way until Kelvin decided to put his foot down and play some squash. At the end of the day the game went my way and I won 3-2. Though I was lucky, was not assisting my opponent in any way and was not the 2nd gunman on the grassy knole !
5-0, 20-4 another good win for the leagues almost top team. I'll mention our win over Dulwich at the end of the first half of the season as this kind of confirms our position in the league. Well done team and stay fit for next week. Waterfront have another 2 players at position 1 and 2, Keith be sure to find out if they've played higher in the league before. Dave keep that foot on ice and keep the lovely wife happy.
