Report

Report:Good start to season for both sides with some tight , competitive squash in all matches with the No 3's match (Bob and Paul) being the marathon match decider and looking at the pair of them after seemed a case of last man standing wins!!
Buddy Mike decided at 2 - 0 not to do the obvious and close the match down in 3, but decided instead to think about chilled lagers while Nick caught him up and nearly went on to win in a tight 5th only to be stopped by a barrage of nicks from Mike to win it.
Guy on other court experianced the whirlwind that is our young Nick! There was some excellant rallies but the young legs seemed to force the pace rather than the older head controlling it. However I'm sure a fully fit Guy (who will serve in more than 50% of the time) will have something differant to say on the home leg so that is a match to look forward to.
The no. 1's put on a good show with Tony and John giving a display of tight drops , lobs and retrieving . . in Tonys case how to do the splits when performing the forehand drop shot . .bit late in the day for me to learn that one Tony!!! However Johns fitness told which was evident on the 3rd match ball Tony was pleading with John to finish it. Note to Tony fitness coaching 8.15 Thursdays Court 3!!
My match with Richard was spoilt by him when he took match ball in the third which was the second of two tie break games. Thoroughly enjoyable game with Rich keeping a tighter rein on his shots than myself, looking forward to rematch on this one!!
