Report: | Tyrannosaurus Wells travelled north to Dulwich for a spot of summer league this week. Despite being weekend by the loss of A. Ward, not sure if he ended up in a ward due to man flu, swine flu or one flew over the cuckoos nest, but either way they put up a spirited fight apart from at no.5 which was no contest.
Chef Brownsdon kicked things off with a straight games win, but not before Steve had tested the Dulwich man’s confidence by tip-toeing to a couple of game balls. Sadly game balls don’t mean games, one nil Dulwich.
Meanwhile Andy was in the process of starting well before being run-over by the Mcleod juggernaut. Having realised that a good start doesn’t mean games either, Andy pulled back from two-down and looked to be on course to notch the win that would see Dulwich home. However, Paul had other ideas and powered his way home in five.
Brendan v Jolyon delivered all that was expected. Finely weighted shots by the latter were run down by Brendan and the game ebbed and flowed, as first finesse and then speed took control. In the end, the racket won the day as Jolyon came out on top to send the match in to a decisive rubber.
Colin looked to have trimmed down a few pounds from the early part of the summer, however despite playing so quality shots was unable to trouble Tim sufficiently to cause an upset.
With the 5th man for the Wells in a ward, it was Dulwich that and Chef Will in particular who showed bouncebackabilty to take the win. Afterwards there was good food, high quality conversation, a few beers and with a bit of luck everyone got home by midnight.
