Report: | A hard fought win over Bexley I saw Dulwich take another step closer to completing the Winter/Summer double.
Despite Ben Ford’s absence due to British Open duty, it was still a tough battle on a balmy autumnal evening. Jason got Dulwich off to the ideal start. The need for him to cook overcoming Duane’s reticence at going on first straight out of the car. Straight games win to the chef.
Meanwhile Andy & Shaun were having a tough battle that see-sawed backwards and forwards. Will’s sound advice that there was no need to over hit the ball, paid dividends and Andy edged it in five.
Brendan came out of the blocks quickly winning the first, but failed to capitalize on leads in a couple of games giving Tom the chance to gain the ascendancy. Despite storming back to take the fourth, Brendan was unable to close things out, and was not in good health at the conclusion …
Ted turned up, albeit late. Tim then turned the screw easing to 2-0, 8/2 before age & too match squash caught up, then Ted caught up and the match went to a fourth, which pleasingly for Tim he won relatively easily.
Will’s pre-match lunchtime drinking paid dividends for 2 games, then Jack’s athletic court coverage was equally effective, before Will realised the chance to tease Brendan as the only loser beckoned and he won in 5.
Chef Barry as always prepared an excellent spread, both in quantity (enough for 4 teams rather than 2) and quality (anyone who turns up an hour early to prep the food is going to dish up a treat!).
