Report

Report:Excellent nights squash, match could have gone anyway. Started late, finished late. Brief report of matches. Michael Bennett played Adam Young, Michael played the best he has played all season, he seemed to be up for the occasion, rallied well, volleyed well and eventually Adam ran out of ideas and fight, reflected in the score. David Harris V Gordon Macmanus, Gordon as usual, very efficient, coped very well with David’s volleying game. Some of Gordon’s retrieving had to be seen to be believed but eventually the pressure of Dave’s game took it’s toll. Dave winning 3-2. Trevor playing Peter , Trevor as usual started off slow, boasted too much, Peter at the front of the court had a very nice touch. After having a word in his shell like, Trevor’s game improved by hitting the ball tighter and deeper plus cutting out most of Peters game, unfortunately, he did not keep it up and gave away 5 or 6 points in the 5th and never really recovered and lost 3-2. Ray Bushell played Dan Lark not a match for the purest. Both players arguing with the refereeing because the ball was flying all round the court. Dan spent most of his time disagreeing with the decisions which eventually proved costly and lost quite easily in the 5th after being 2 games up. From our point of view we had the best player playing him, Ray won 3-2. Simon verses Fitz we were surprised how well Fitz played in the first 2 games, Simon made the usual unforced errors in the 3rd and 4th. Fitz seemed to tire and Simon upped his game to win 3-1. I think I should congratulate both teams for an eventful evening of squash.
