Report

Report:An entertaining match which produced a thoroughly enjoyable top rubber. Grinnell retrieving balls at the death but unable to take the rubber into a deciding fifth game. This weekend he will swim from Alcatraz to the mainland for charity with the local shark population for company.

Dulwich won the other rubbers against very credible opposition, a team that had beaten the league leaders for which they should be congratulated. Though what Park Langley 2nd's manager was doing watching Dulwich 2nds playing away at David Lloyd whilst his team was losing to Bexley 3rds remains a mystery.

We are coming to the end of another summer campaign of 18 tough matches which is the same number of matches we play in the winter. The observation of a visting German squash player was interesting, who noted that we have not adopted the universal squash rules, PAR to 11. I am sure the detractors have their reasons to alienate Kent from the rest of the squash playing world, I just dont understand the logic behind them. Though there have been some vibrant exchanges on the website not all have got the point. The rule has changed - doh! Incidentally it particularly favours the one legged, marginally overweight player who enjoys a beer or two accompanied by an assortment of grub, which is why I support it.

Bexley 3rds were good company on and off the pitch as all the clubs have been, save for the odd individual, I stress not someone from Bexley. After all, this is Kent Priory Division 2 and we all give up our evenings to have sone fun, rather than to play against a grunting obnoxious ape or as a marker be abused by an anthropoid troglodyte.

We all look forward to the winter when the rule change will again be debated, maybe blood replacements should be allowed in keeping with rugby along with behavioural therapy for those who have not evolved beyond Darwin's missing link.
