Report: | First off were Paul & Manjit - sorry, missed it as I was having my own problems on court. Paul was on the verge of being beaten in three when, at one point from match ball his racket frame sent the ball spinning like an out of control catherine wheel to get hand in and from there his game seemed transformed. It was one of our longer matches in recent years. Next on were Tom and Dave, Tom playing some awesome squash and able to hit the nick at will. Dave struggled to gain control but Tom always had the extra shot. Poor Ray hardly got a look-in with Jon who was as mercurial as he was accurate. Unluckily for Ray he admitted to showing his best form so far this season - most impressive. At 2 rubbers apiece, Simon and Mark took to the ring. After a one-sided start when Mark kept punishing the tin the match turned into a late-night epic. Simon had match ball in the third when Mark's reverse angle came to the rescue and the tide started to turn. Sadly for Bromley Simon dug deep and his unpredictable shots wrong-footed Mark just too often. This put an end to Bromley's winning streak but provided an entertaining evening for all. And this week the only proposition that any of the Waterfront team had was to help with the washing-up and, as presumably was the case last week, they declined politely. |
