Report

Report:This evening was Priory at its best, though the gallant losers may choose to disagree. Tom and John started with what looked like a totally one-sided affair but John eventually found his drop, boast and length to move Tom about, just what he didn't want with a recently damaged knee. However, Tom did conclude the match in three and went home happy. Meanwhile, Craig looked as if he would do the same to Mark who was no doubt dismayed at having such a sharp opponent at 3 after playing (ie losing) so many matches at 1. Mark not only fought back to 2-2 but from 2-8 down in the 5th nearly drew level but for a tough call from the marker and a cracking drive from Craig.

Paul found Alan a handful to start with but was the more consistent with length and drops, while Brian and Robin tussled on the other court. Brian, another knee casualty, was made to run ragged after the first 7 points, his lack of recent match practice showing in fluffed boasts and curious shot selection. Robin's retrieval seemed effortless in comparison and retained command of the court to win in three.

Enter Tim and Dave for the decider. These two couldn't have been better matched, both tenacious and focused. Tim's shots were less predictable but Dave had the better length with drives and command of the backhand side for most of the match. It was one of those drives that gave him the winning point at 9-9 and a win for his team.

So Poultwood got their revenge after a first half home defeat and in doing so help Bromley LTSC 2 on its way towards almost certain relegation. Isn't life great?!
