Report

Report: Cannons came to Poult Wood with the objective of getting at least 18 points to make them division champions, luckily PW for almost the first time this season had almost a full strength squad!

No1 Jake vs Nick - didn't see this match but was informed that Jake went 2-0 up and seemed to be heading for victory, Nick then staged a comeback and Jake injured his leg and finally losing 3-2

No5 Peter vs Guy - again didn't see this match but PW were 2-0 ahead but Guys fitness finally wore Peter down and Cannons again took all 3 points.

No3 Craig vs Will - This looked like it would be a one sided match with Will taking the first game 9-0, Craig then found his form and seemed to win the next two games with ease, the fourth game and match seemed to be in the bag for Craig being 7-4 up but Will had other ideas and pulled off some fantastic winners to take the game. This gave him confidence to take the next game - another 3 points to Cannons!

No2 - Paul B vs Paul F - The two first games were very close with PoultWood Paul winning both. Cannons Paul then must have realised that loosing 3-0 would have cost cannons their title chance and came out in the 3rd a different player winning the next two games. In the 5th game both players looked tired but still played some impressive squash with very few mistakes, this game was a real battling affair but Poult Wood Paul won this one so Cannons now had a possible 19 points to play for.

No4 - Alan vs Mark - Alan's normal game is to loose the two first games, then stage a remarkable comeback to win in 5. As he had not played for a few weeks this had all changed as he was desperate to play! Alan came on court wearing his Waitrose sponsored shirt and played the best I have seen Alan play with some fantastic overhead cross court drops finding the nick. Mark's retrieving was making this a real battle but Alan kept his composure and won 3-0. Unfortunately this scuppered Cannons title chance with their team promising never to shop at Waitrose again, maybe Alan should have found a Sainsburys T Shirt to play in that night!

Excellent games and a good (But late) evening
