Report: | A tremendous tussle at number 4 prodced an epic five setter that lasted an hour and a half. That Tredinnick geezer from Park Langley can sure run and credit to him for winning the match. Tomorrow is when the pain will really set in. Maybe we should invest in an ice bath.
I only saw one other match, having been on court for most of the night. Andy Dawes played his particular brand of squash very well, dropping and retrieving to beat Kevin McC 3-0. Kevin, oddly, seemed to be exhausted during the warm up. He marked the marathon match that preceded his game which was a relatively straightforward game to mark, in common with the earlier one or so I am told.
Ben won his first match of the season 3-0, though Darren was suffering from a wee bit of fatigue. Steve Harsum followed with a 3-1 win over Fergus. Nic at number 5 has been without gas for two weeks and maybe living in the cold did something for his speed on court, from what I am told, storming to a 3-0 win over Micky Collins.
Shame that my old adversary and Park Langley icon, Trevor Young, was missing. Maybe we will see Trevor at the return match. As usual Park Langley were good company after the match.
I should have mentioned and thanked Ian Ross Griffin, club captain and after dinner speaker of some repute (christmas bookings now being taken) who marked two matches with his usual aplomb. |
