Report

Report:A thoroughly enjoyable evenings squash with some really good matches and a scoreline that could have gone either way.

I didn't see any of the one's but apparantly Lee, despite a 3rd game loss of concentration, always looked that bit sharper than Kev.

The 2's was a bit of a rollercoaster with Matt not playing well at all to come back and nick the first, and important it proved to be. Matt then seemed to get well on top in the second with Justin making some uncharacteristic mistakes before the tide turned. Justin again went well ahead in the third before Matt somehow dragged it back to 8-8, Justin kept his concentration well to close it out soon after. The fourth was tight to start before a run of winners and errors saw Justin take it comfortably but Matt came back in the fifth with his own string of winners and just seemed to have the legs to close it out.

Si and Olly had a good old battle with both players retrieving stuff we had no right to get to despite the cold conditions. Si was fearful for his legs at the end of the second given a complete lack of any post-xmas court time but managed to prey on Olly's looser shots to play the necessary winners and take it in 4.

I only saw the first game of the 4's but Jim managed to take the tight two first games before comfortably winning the third, a deserved win by all accounts. Jim's an old face to the Beckenham top order from Surrey Cup so good to see him back by all accounts.

Finally Cathy and Peter. A right old see-saw match as the scores suggest with both players looking like they'd close it out easily at times. But no, a battle to the end with both players looking like they had a crucial advantage in the fifth but Cathy eventually edging it.

Always a good laugh with the Sundridge boys and the evening ended with a bloody brilliant roast, hats off to the Beckenham chef - Peter I'm sure there's a few yorkshires floating around with your name on them.
