Report: | Tom v Ash
This was a real humdinger with Tom quickly into a 6-0 lead and then decides to relax and let Ash into his stride and stride it was, he never stopped running, Tom felt he had to put the ball away twice in each rally! Ash took the first and this set the tone for the match. If the pace kept up our fears for Tom's 'staying power' were creaping in, the match went backwards and forwards to get to 2-2, Ash took a convincing lead in the 5th and we thought it was curtains but Tom pulled himself together........Ash was feeling the strain at this point, wained and let Tom through to take the match 3-2. The second 5 setter Toms managed in a row, does this mean Tom's getting some fittness, thats got to be good!!
Top Totty V Nick
Keeley got there early and there were a few smiles at there being a girlie in the team, know one seamed to recognise her. This got Keeley going and young Nick certainly knew he had his work cut out for him. Keeley got of to a good start and went 2-0 up but relaxed in the third and let that one go. Keeley, anoyed with herself for dropping that one showed her true form and experience and took the forth for a couple of points to win 3-1, a realy good match and well played Nick.
F C v Tony
Only saw the warm up here but Tony with the girls pants on his chest obviously did not play well last week and the form continued by all accounts and didn't trouble F C too much, it was noted that Big Andy may be taking over the 'F C' mantle at the moment but with F C's nuptuals comming up in the spring he'll retain that honor with interest!!
Chopper V Mike
I'm afraid this was never going to be a contest with Mikes good form of late, you might have thought that was talking but know, playing and Chopper's ill health. Chopper wheezed his way around the court in a valiant effort not to let the team down but mike took the match comfortably.
BBBGB V Big Andy
Not a lot of room on court in this one! With Big Andy injured and over weight due to lack of play.......and beer! BBBGB's knees strapped up to hold them together this threatened to be a game of tactics rather than marathon rallies...........and so it was. Big Andy took a while to get going and BBBGB took the first two, Big Andy got his head together and took the 3rd and so into the forth with plenty of banter and support from the gallery, although I'm not sure you would call what Bob was getting from his own team was support but it was very funny. Bob edged the 4th to take the match 3-1. A great humoured match, great fun.
Great food and a great evening.
Thanks for the report guys - great evening and good squash too! (Ash) |
