Report

Report:Welcome back to division 1 squash.
Bexley 2 were without Scott and Steph tonight so 3rd team regular Jack and Mark “the injured one” were called up for action.
First up for the 15th time this season, Duane vs Neil. Strange affair this one, a very subdued match with Duane not quite firing on all cylinders and Neil planning his emergency safe route to the nearest toilet. After taking the 1st, Duane slowed slightly and Neil speeded up. 3-1 to Neil.
On the other court was Tom vs John, after a hammering last week in outer Kent, Tom came out and took the first (which incidentally gave him more points than he got in last week’s match) after a seesaw match Tom won 10-8 in the 5th, on fitness apparently!
Mark vs Martin, the rehabilitation is nearly complete for Mark and the games are gradually getting harder. A tough match with both players giving their all and after about 90 mins Martin took it 3-2. That is the best I have ever seen Martin play. Well played.
Jack vs Tom, didn’t see any of this one but heard it from next door, Jack was pleased with the way he played but didn’t quite have enough to beat the experienced Tom, for those who follow Tom’s injuries, tonight was his achilles.
Last up was Andy “2hrs sleep” Murphy vs Malcolm “the bexley destroyer” Parker. After his demolitions of Scott (3 points), Badger (2 points), Christian (7 points) in previous matches, the aim of Andy was not to win? but to get more points than his predecessors, Badger and Scott were surpassed in the first with 4 points but we had to wait until the 3rd for Andy to overtake Christian, to be honest if Andy had nicked the 3rd he may have won as Malcolm looked a broken man!

So a good 4-1 win for Rodmersham which should secure them 2nd place.

Good food and banter at the meal with Tom explaining his injuries are gradually working their way up his body, Mark looking forward to playing at 4 in the 3rd team tomorrow night where hopefully he won’t have to run so much!, Martin expressing an interest in doing an Iron man triathlon before he is 30 (fool), John marvelling at the biggest mayo bottle in the world!, all of us marvelling at the weakest forks in the world (Uri Geller eat your heart out!) and Neil planning his emergency safe route to the nearest toilet.

Welcome back to Mark and lucky he turned up as he is now the treasurer, captain, waiter, chief plate drier and report writer.
