Report

Report:Bexley tried everything to weaken the perennial table toppers Dulwich.
Anonymous calls had been made to the South African embassy and Michael Woods was last seen leaving the country as his visa had expired, two weeks earlier Will’s car keys had mysteriously disappeared (now that’s forward planning!) and Brendan had lost all his money. Unfortunately Dulwich turned up at Bexley with a full team and generally by London transport (no delays when you want them!)
First up Ben vs Tim
The general consensus was that Ben was “pretty tired” after 3 points, this led to an entertaining match with Tim trying to lengthen the rallies and Ben trying to hit rolling nicks. Tim was enjoying his time on court and prolonged Ben’s pain by winning 3-2. Thanks to Rob for marking this one.
Mark vs Paul
Not the best of matches from the previously unbeaten Mark, Paul controlled the game throughout apart from the 2nd when he was eclipsed 11-0 (had to mentioned that), normal service was resumed after that with Paul taking it 3-1 but actually only winning 1 more point than Mark.
Jack vs Will
Didn’t see much of this but with both players sporting 100% records something had to give, well, actually it didn’t, Jack was looking for his first win and Will was unbeaten. From what I did see the rallies were long and hard with Will taking them at the business end. 3-0 to Will.
Richie vs Andy
Due to the withdrawal of Elliott, Richie was drafted in to provide some much need energy to the Bexley team, Things looked good after the 1st with Richie taking it and Andy not looking as sharp. After warming up a bit, Andy got into gear and the honours were even after 4 games at 2-2, In the end Richie stretched his legs (and actually broke into a sweat) and took the last with Andy running out of gas fast. Shame we couldn’t lend Richie’s legs to the rest of the team!
Christian vs Brendan
Another cracking match, with both players giving it their all. It came down to the last with Brendan just edging it 11-9.

So a 4-1 German like performance from Dulwich and Bexley players could be heard mumbling about lack of fitness, court sprints, ghosting, doctor’s appointments and homework as they left the club.

After match entertainment.
The chicken curry was lovely and the banter was flowing as always, unfortunately the banter was cut short due to the demands of the London transport service, just as Will was telling us all about his new favourite programme, Spartacus on Bravo which was basically soft porn. I believe Will rushed home to catch the last 5 minutes ;-)
