Report

Report:A close match aided by Bexley a player down, 1-0 to the Mote. First up the leagues rising star young James Evans. Promoted to 2nd string by the abscence of Mote's regular no2, James raced off into a 1-0 lead taking the game 11-6 with some powerful strokeplay and his usual collection of cross court volley nicks. Back came Tom in gritty fashion to take the second 11-6, all square. The 3rd was a cracking game with both players giving everything, some of the strokeplay was fantastic to watch. Tom knicked the game 16-14 after a couple of wrong descisions by James at a crucial time in the game when he had his opponent there for the taking. The 4th was equally as brutal with some immense rallies. It looked as though James would square the match but again with his opponent there for the taking a couple of errors and Tom's experience gave him the match 3-1. A great match that had Tom breating a sigh of relief. 1-1 in the match.

Next up Jonny and Matt. Didnt see much of this but what i did see seemed like a pretty even contest with Jonny running out overall winner 3-2, 2-1 to the Mote.

The captains decision not to play himself in the last few matches put paid to any chance he might of had of beating his stonger fitter opponent. A comfortable win for Steve making the match 2-2.

Centre stage left for Alex and Duane. Another close contest except Duane took a 2-0 lead whereas it had been Alex in the away leg. Back came Alex to take a tough fought 3rd 11-8 and then the 4th comfortably with Duane saving himself for the 5th. A close fought 5th could have gone either way but in the end the experience of Duane just edged it 11-9 to give the match to Bexley 3-2.

A great match played in the usual friendly spirit.

Any of you top clubs in the Priory may want to try and secure the services of young Mr Evans for this winter as he will undoubtably become one of the leagues top players in the next year or so!!!
