Report: | End of season encounter last night v Bexley II, over pretty early with our beloved PAR.
First on (for a change) Culver v Badger.
WB isn't really used to this kind of early appearance but managed to contain his glee and put in his usual efficient performance against Matt. Not too much to say about this one. A fairly straightforward win to kick proceedings off.
Next door, London snr v Wyatt.
The author had the misfortune to encounter "Steve's best performance of the season" as described by his teammates. It certainly seemed that way, as the author scrabbled around trying unsuccessfully to get his eye in as ball after ball disappeared for winners. A comfortable 3-0 to Steve to equalise.
Next, Lennox v Green.
Matt looked to be struggling to get to the front for the first part of this match and Mark looked to be in control. In the 3rd, the balance began to shift as Matt's movement improved quite significantly and with Mark having been lulled into a false sense of security. A competitive 3rd and 4th saw Mark squeezing through to take the win.
Next door, London jnr v Harrison.
Only saw a bit of this one, but it looked a good contest with Duane putting in a good stint once again. Steve looked to be wanting it to be over in 3 as it eventually proved, as the onset of the first winter cold started to take a grip. Despite a bit of a wobble in the 2nd which Duane ended up being a little unlucky to lose, Steve did well to wrap it up 3-0.
Last on to round off proceedings, Robbins v May.
Saw next to nothing of this but JEJ was by all accounts (notably his own), suffering from the same malaise as the author (perhaps marking that match wasn't such a good idea). Tom raced off to a 2-0 lead at which point the difference between the author and JEJ became all too apparent. The normal reaction to a slow start from JEJ as he turned up the wick just enough to come through - again.
Anyway, PL finished the season on a high note with a succession of good results and despite losing WB for the winter as usual look set fair for a good winter, all being well.
The usual banter in the bar afterwards rounded off a good evening, with the Bexley boys still propping it up to the end to celebrate the end to their campaign.
