Report: | Ok, sportsfans after being inudated with a request(s) for match report heregoes ...
Tequila Tim flew back in from 'Mehiccio' sporting a tan suggesting that a glass court in the sunshine might be the next step for Eventis. The working week on the WISPA event in Toluca, didnt seem to have done his squash to match damage beating Steve in straight games. The quality of the squash was pretty good, with Tim generally controlling the ball and using height to width to keep his younger, fitter, faster & more mobile opponent at bay!
Humberto 'El Mosquito' took on a slightly lame James, however, the latters racket skills are always top draw and he also used his guile and skill to frustrate the South American. A big rally at 8-8 in the fourth eventually decided the destination of the win as James hang in to nick it.
Bonita Brownsdon played out an enjoyable battle with Ray. A seeming stalwart for Langley 1sts it turns out Ray only plays Dulwich away which is down to (a) his fond memories from the Biggin Hill battles (b) he loves the Olleys Fish & Chips or (c) no-one else is prepared to travel 'over the hill'! Clearly comfortable on the courts he got of to a good start nicking the first before Will remembered he wasnt on a date but in a competitive match.
Probably the most surprsinsing result of the night involved Paul & Mark. The 'result' being the fact that Paul's racket remained in his hand for the duration and intact. Give that man a sombrero. Obviously there was the momentary glare and curse at the ref (his team-mate) but all in all it was good to see that despite so fiery battles they were able to enjoy a competitive battle. [Ed. note: it does help if Paul wins ;-)].
Andy & Clive both looked in fine form, less donkeys and more thoroughbreds. Andy sneaked the first two despite Clive's use of some unorthodox deception involving the frame, wall & shin ... not in the same shot but various combos just to prove it was all skill[cheers TG. Your well suppressed mirth at "that nick shot" much appreciated]. Andy eventually came out on top in 3 games to close out a fine win for the Burbage Road boys.
The post match Olleys meal was enjoyable with plenty of banter and chat, mainly from Will who is challeging MP in the online dating escapades, though there is definitely less thought in his approach! |
