Report: | A fairly routine match this one. Dulwich II struggling even more than PL with absentees.
Matches at no.2, 3 and 4 were all pretty straightforward 3-0s. The toss up for match of the night was Steve v Max and Ray v Nick.
Steve v Max was a high paced affair. Steve put in his usual 100% stint and the real difference was Max's extra ability to put the ball away when given something slightly loose. Three very hard fought games with a lot of movement from both players, with Max just in control when it mattered. A good match.
The other contender was DC's match. Having gone 2-0 up DC decided that having turned out for the 1sts, he was damned if he was going to let a little thing like PAR ruin his evening (as it did everybody else's). He duly dropped the next two tight games, but saved his best 'til last with a peach of a backhand dropshot from mid court to take him to 10-8 in the 5th. The next rally duly closed it out for a good win.
So a late start and all done and dusted by 9.40pm. The 5th team who started before us were still manfully plugging away long afterwards and I never did see the 4th team emerge from ODs. So that's it then, the PAR advocates must value an early night over their fitness levels ... |
