Report: | “The battle for the wooden spoon”
Both teams have struggled in recent weeks with players and tonight was no exception with both teams bringing in the heavies from the lower teams.
Usual result at 1, Neil just too strong for Mark, 3-0.
Sleep deprived Matt looked down and out in the 3rd losing it 11-0 to go 2-1 down against Rachel but a few wise words in the break helped and he came back strong to win 3-2.
Didn't see the match at 3 but Steve was too strong for Martin taking it 3-0.
Reserve Breen came in and played very well to win 3-0 with a mixture of hard hitting nicks and drops.
Undoubtedly the best match of the night, Reserve Lewis vs reserve Armstrong, a svelte like Lewis was positively floating around the court and looking lighter than he has for a long time, the knee ops and reduced calorie intake seem to be working wonders. In a back and forth battle with a lot of hard hitting, it was Ian who finally took the match 3-2 in an enjoyable match for the crowd, the highlight of the match was at 8-10 down in the 3rd and after hitting a very lose shot, Rob had turned and was walking out the door when Ian promptly put the ball in the tin!, 3 points later and Rob had taken the game to lead 2-1.
Excellent food and banter after the match and much talk about "if only we'd had a full team out every week" |
