Report: | Due to popular demand (Hand Jive and Dan!) the DC has his editorial quill back in hand.
Before getting into the matches I would state it is a pleasure to be back playing at Langley towers after a 5 year gap leave on the Hill. However a small blot on the landscape is how those rubbish prima donnas in the first team just turn up when it suits them, select which courts they would prefer to use thus condeming the most successful Langley team from the summer to whatever courts they find available and then our prima donnas proceed to play a load of rubbish squash. True to form the 3rds showed how the game should be played without any fuss and notched up a good 4-1 victory.
First up:(apologies to the Dulwich lads, didn't get all the names)
Grim Reaper (Simon) v Don't Know
Didn't see a shot played of this one but I understand the Reaper got off to his usual slow start, lured Don't know into a false sense of security then proceeded to drop just one further point.
DC V James
James looked very slick in the knockup, knocking seven bells out of the little black thing. DC was having none of that nonsense and proceeded to lob to the front and drop to the back which seemed to do the trick. a comfortable 3-0 for DC which gave me just enough time to stick my head round the corner to see 'The Waterboy' getting thumped. Nothing new there it would seem !
Cyborg (Paul) v Duncan
Saw very little of this one but on a couple of occasions I spotted Cyborg trying to play human like shots i.e. tickle boasts, subtle drops etc all were tinned in the same manner so the Cyborg went back to endless machine like running and retrieving which had a terminating match ending effect.
Sweaty Sock (Ferg) v Duncan
Match of the night without a doubt.
two totally contrasting styles. Sweaty Sock playing the flair shots and Duncan working very hard and retreiving endlessly. Sweaty seemed to be on his way to a 3-1 win before Duncan sqeaked the 4th. Duncan then went 7-0 and 8-3 up in the 5th before Sweaty reeled off 7 points in a row to knick it. A really good match played in the best sporting manner.
Locks,Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels (Dan) v Don't Know Mk 2.
The long and short of this one is Don't Know Mk2 won comfortably 3-0. Those of us who know of LSA2SB recent jollies to all points of the globe are well aware that he has played bugger all squash and drank/eat loads since the end of last season. Now you may think this is the reason LSA2SB lost so easily. You may also assume Don't Know Mk 2 played far better, But NO ! It was the change of racket. It was simply to heavy in the Head. Yep, That'll be the reason then !
Well played lads, absent Captain Carrott Top (Sam) will be delighted.
Thanks to all the Dulwich lads, Good banter in the bar. Best of luck with the Triathlons Duncan. (He's 51, how good is that.) |
