Report: | Once more dismissed to the 2nd tier courts. Even the 2nd team heading for prima donna status with Ken leaving DC in no doubt which court his boys would perform. Never mind, I,m not bitter !!
Captain Carrot Top v Mark
Didn't see any of this one (on court at time) but CCT seemed to feel not much more he could do to reverse the score. Only 2nd game back from a long lay off but with a good tough training regime over the break I'm sure he be back in top form for the second half (LOL)
Cyborg v Pete
Didn't see any of this one either (still on court !) Seemed pretty comfortable for Cyborg but a few handbags between Pete and CCT in the marking chair spiced things up a bit at the end of the 3rd. All friends again once beers were in hand so well done boys.
Grim Reaper v Adam
Always a tough ask for the Reaper up against Adam who is normally top of the pile at David Lloyd (more about that in a mo')
Adam had to much in the locker, moving well and driving very powerfully to a length which never allowed GR to get in any sort of rythem. As usual, GR never gave up and took the 3rd but Adam upped the anti in the fourth to notch up a good win.
Debt Collector v Nathan
Must admit DC wasn't expecting to much change out of this match having watched Nathan several times before. (too young and too fit)
However DC played probably as well as he could to go 2 up then led 7-3 in the 3rd at which point Nathan combined some ridiculous retrieving with a couple of tight backhand drives for winners and knicked the game 10-8. Nathan then took command of the 4th with DC beginning to feel his age and a fifth beckoned. Again Nathan took a healthy 5-1 lead which DC scraped back to 5/5 before Nathan again moved ahead 8-6. Again DC got back to 8/8 with a couple of tight drops before nicking it with a stroke on match ball. Really good game played in a good spirit.
Sweaty Sock v Lawrence
So the number one's take to the court. What an anti climax that was. Several of the David LLoyd boys didn't seemed to recognise their own player which always makes you wonder.
Long and short of it, S S didn't break sweat (didn't get the chance) Lawrence didn't break sweat (didn't have to) so all over very quickly. Not much fun for either and a long drive back to Middlesex I'm told for Lawrence. Ho Hum.
Hopefully that's it for the half, I need a rest and a few Stella's. Happy Christmas to all the Priory boys (and you Lawrence ! LOL again) |
