Report

Report:Playing host to our nearest and dearest is always an entertaining affair. Having watched Park Langley vist us to play our 4th team last week, which the 4ths just nicked and having travelled there to support our 2nd team against their 1sts which they won, I was looking forward to my annual encounter with "George" Bushell which I am yet to win. The Dulwich technical staff had taken copious notes and we had a game plan all ready to execute - but he decided to fall ill and stay at home.

So on with the match. Our new boy Antonio galloped onto court playing a blinder against Fergus from what I am told. Though an unfortunate collision between Antonio,s racket and the chin of Fergus probably worked in the home team's favour.

Meanwhile the clash of the night was taking place impeccably marked by our resident consultant eye surgeon, Mr Harsum. Weatherhead versus Dogra. Power versus Precision. Youth versus Old Man. Having won the last encounter 3-0 in the summer at the charming Old Dunstonian's, Dogra was hoping to wrap this one up quickly. Over one hour later we were into the 5th game. Fantastic match which ended with a home win but could easily have gone the other way.

Ruff versus Rogers. Rogers went down a game and then surprise surprise won 3-1. Impossible to read and poker faced whilst driven on by his lady friend the Park Langley man is becoming a cult figure in the league. Harsum beat Dan using his telescopic reach to good effect and Shapiro at 1 dispatched Adam 3-1 in a match that took place during my epic encounter. In fact both the number 3 and number 1 matches were over before the encounter of the season at 5.

Tremendous fun.
