Report: | Blow me down with a feather, the 3rd team get to play on the glassbacks. Only trouble was, it had been so long since the last time, we had to ask a member of staff where they were !
Short report as I only saw one match and was on court for most of the rest.
Eyeball Adam v Josh
Saw this one but if I had turned my head for a second I would have missed it.
For the 3rd week in a row, Eyeball filled in at the top of the order. Suffering a bout of man flu and Josh moving swiftly around court hitting plenty of tight drops, Eyeball was unable to put up much resistence and went down 3 zip.
Grim Reaper v Sean
Didn't see any of this but it was over very quickly. Sean off the pace with injury I'm told. Can't think of a worse person to play than the Reaper if your not on your game. 3 zip to GR.
Captain Carrot Top
Did't see this one either but CCT went 2 nil up before Mr Bhana clawed a game back. 4th game was tight with CCT a long way down before coming back to nick it 10/8.
Debt Collector v James
DC didn't go into this one with any great expectations after a 3 zip drubbing in the first half and not feeling to good for the last week or so. However, as can happen when you don't expect much, events can transpire to alter your outlook. A very long first game with both players keeping things very tight down the backhand. James edged out an 8/4 lead before DC clawed points back to finally nick it 10/8. James upped the pace in the second and moved very quick to the front blasting anything DC threw in short.9/4 to James. The third seemed to go on forever with the advantage swinging one way then the other before DC finally closed it out 9/7.
Again James came roaring back in the 4th taking a 6/2 lead. At this point DC decided he was a bit peckish and decided to start chomping on the edge of James's racket. Not a good idea as it resulted in DC sending his teeth through his top and bottom lips. With stars wizzing about in DC's head and lots of claret spoiling his Persil white t shirt, a break was called for to get everything sorted. Back on court and James carried on where he left off and took the game 9/5.
The fifth was very tight with both players working very hard to get the advantage. James finally arrived at match ball after 1 1/2 hours and closed thing out 9/6.
Despite the racket tasting episode, this was a really enjoyable match that I thoroughly enjoyed. James is improving month on month and in my opinion will be pushing Josh hard for the top slot next season.
Funny old game, these two lads become my team mates on Thursday. Think I prefer it that way round.
Sweaty Sock v Ron
Only saw the last game in full which Ron took comfortably but I understand the first three were all close. A mixture of Sweatys deft shots and Rons hard work making for a good scrap.
So a close match with the Bexley youth coming through on top.
A good evening with Peter, the dads and lads from Bexley as always. That is apart from them eating all my chips as the swollen mouth wouldn't allow me to enjoy them. |
