Report

Report:Bexley needed both a good win and a little help from our friends at Park Langley to close the gap on Biggin Hill. Rumours came in that BH had only got 15 points at PL so it was all to play for.

Joss went on first and, feeling poorly, was in no mood for messing around. His unbeaten record staying intact (unlike Mr Lennox's!!!).

On court 2 Mark and James stepped on for what was billed to be a very close battle. James certainly won the warm up, standing half way up the court and hitting a nick every other shot! as you all know Mark has many nicks in his arsenal but he prefers to save them for the match.
The first game was tight up until 3-3 then Mark stretched his legs and won 9-3, the second was also tight up until 4-4, it was then that James moved for yet another excellent Steeden forehand drop and pulled what can only be described as his arse. One rally later and James conceded. It was a shame as this was turning into a very good match.

Two matches finished by 8.15! Matt and Steve stepped on against Street and Cliff.

Matt, having had a less than average day, was in a bit of a "mood"!!! After a close start to the match, Matt hacked the ball around to a 3-0 win.

With a walkover at 5 the match was 17-0. TW needed some pride and Bexley smelt a 20 points on the cards!

Steve vs Cliff,
After 3 quick matches we was in danger of finishing the match before 9 but Steve and Cliff decided that they would get their money's worth by playing 5 games. It was a fantastic match, with both players surging ahead at different times, Steve chasing everything down and Clive looking smooth, at 1-1 the advice to Steve was to straight drop, he took this literally and proceeded to lob and drop everything in sight winning the game 9-5 (it was like watching a Clive London clone!), Cliff took the next and in the 5th took a 5 point lead and looked good, then, after a couple of very long rallies Steve had pulled it back to 4-5, Cliff then dug in and finished off the game in style, his facial expression never changing throughout the match apart from when he asked the marker to remove his mobile phone from his ear, sorry Cliff, I was concentrating, honest.

19-3 and Bexley close the gap to just 5 points. Heres hoping for a little help from our friends at Fitness Exchange next week....go out with a bang guys and beat Biggin Hill!!
