Report: | Interesting evening, "handbags at dawn" was the cry at number 2 with the often manic retrieval skills of Simon causing some headaches for the marker, Matt and indeed any within earshot of court 1 - as fairly robust "discussions" between Simon and Matt, and Simon and marker Dave ensued. I must say that I learned a fair bit of new squash terminology from this one, not that I have seen many of the words used in the coaching manuals I have read. So Matt went 2 up, then Simon Grim Reaper Rogers fights back (almost literally). The return match on that one should be fun!
The rest of the matches were more civilised affairs, Darren snuck through fairly comfortably 3-0, although required a comeback from 8-6 down in the second.
Tom won through 3-2 while not being at his most fluid, although Matt does possess some unique shot making abilities, this coupled with Toms determination to put the ball as close to Matts racket kept this match tighter than Tom would have felt it should be.
Fergus and Dave had an amiable encounter, with Dave having a bit more in the tank than Fergus (Fergus - the trick is to avoid food in the fridge with mould, mildew or other such nasties - this should negate any projectile vomiting and leave with a little more energy on the squash court)
Dans opponent pulled out with a splitting headache, which I am told is due to sunstroke and not Dans' Sharapova like shrieks.
So a win for Park Langley, see you boys on the return, hopefully will be a more cheery event.
