Report

Report:Well what can I say about this one without it becoming a bit of a rant.
Er right. The first half encounter was a really great match with all games I believe going to five. Well non playing and non showing neville obviously didn't want this to be a similar affair. So a quick raid into Purley Surrey div 1 team and hey presto you get Jamie Wilde and a not to shoddy Stu Parrish in tow. So That's game over before it's begun. Nice one Nev' hope you got the result you were looking for.
First up:

Sweaty v Jamie
Not much to say really. As you would expect all done and dusted very quickly, Jamie to his credit gave Sweaty a bit of a run in the second but a waist of time otherwise.

Grim Reaper v Stu
Anyone who knows the Reaper will know what a scrapper he is so the scoreline tells all. Another waist of time.

Debt Collector v Dan
DC won 3-2. A totally unpleasant experience. non stop ranting and swearing at me,the marker and anyone else who dared listen. then stormed off at the end not to be seen again.

Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels v Martin.
Right, Down to a couple of matches worth talking about. Martin as always picked up everything Dan could sling at him and took a hard fought first. Locks kept going for it in the second and Martin took his foot off the pedal a little and scores were level. Martin seemed to be easing to a comfortable third as Locks started to tire but suddenly a run of winners from all over the place by Locks got the scores to 8/8. Both had several game balls but Martin finally took it 10/9 when a drop volly from Locks found the tin.
Fourth again very tough with Martin holding the edge throughout but Locks never backed off and pushed right to the end. A really good match by both players. The best I have seen Locks play for a very long time, if it had been anyone but Martin at 3 I'm sure he would have won.

Captain Carrot Top v Nathan
Last match of the night and without question the best. Shame Nathan had no support as all his team had gone home (apart from Martin in the shower) but the P/L boys appreciated his efforts. This was a very long, tough match which left two players looking awfully tired at the end. Nathan kept his nose in front over the first three games with CCT working his nuts off to even things out in the fourth. CCT seemed to take control of things in the 5th but Nathan refused to give in and made some fantastic gets to pull things back to 7/7. After tired mistakes by both players CCT finally edged it 9/7. A really top match with CCT really producing the goods against in my opinion the best number 5 he will play this season.
So a couple of outstanding performances by Locks and CCT kept things close but to be honest I fail to see the point of drafting in players in div 2 who do not get a game along with their opponents who they put to the sword. The div one game going on next door had some top draw players going at it including Steve London and Neil Baker but both play below Jamie in Surrey div 1 team. That says it all really. Oh, one last thing, 3 meals sat and went cold which we paid for. Have a good day Nev !!
