Report:Wouldn’t normally put fingers to keyboard on an away match, but given that we attracted two female supporters to the tundra that used to be known as lovely amida it deserves a small bit of prose (even though one did sleep her way through the evenings proceedings).

First up the elk-like form of Jamie strode around the court hitting crisp drives that flew past the half court line and on the odd occasion actually made it to backwall. However, sporting a nice set of under armour, unsurprisingly, under his Olleys shirt Tim started quite brightly the blowing on the ball between rallies rallies paying dividends. However, Jamie started to find his mark in the third and pulled on back before looking favourite to take it in to a decider before Tim edged if.

Meanwhile the Andy was taking advantage of the less than temperate conditions by playing not only with height on the front wall but also Will’s mind. A slightly dangerous approach in such a hostile environment but the Dunlop double yellow stone was soon being used to good effect by the wily snow fox and eventually managed to do a scott sumner on Will, which is job done!

The two Paul’s somehow managed to get the ball up to almost race conditions and although the longest rally was still in the region of 7.3 shots their three set encounter did last longer than was expected. Sadly unable to report much of Jason & Mark’s battle as Will and I were enjoying the tropical climes in the pool area, and really struggled to find any reason to go back into the wasteland other than it was the right thing to do.

So we saw Andy see off Martin in a good natured match, in which both players were probably hoping that it didn’t go beyond three and Jamie, who was marking, certainly did!

One of the highlights was the club putting ice in the water jug to be taken to the courts and then providing coffee cups to drink it out of. Sadly no sign of the mulled wine that would have been more welcome between the games.

Apart from the squash conditions it was a fun evening.

Atchoooo.
