Report: | 3rd teams turn to play at the bloody awful Old Dunstonians courts. It finally dawned on me why the 1st's don't play there. With the ceilings almost as low as the top of the courts, Hand Jive would never win a game. Hand Jive without a lob is like a flea without a hounds back ! (thanks for your concern DC. As it happens my lobs are fairly flat and I quite like the ODs courts. Don't have a problem with the low ceilings - HJ)
Zimbabwean Worthog v Andy
Here's a funny thing. Warthog sweeping the court before the match as he thought he may slip. You need to be under 16 stone before there's any chance of that happening. By my reckoning that makes Warthog safe by about 4 stone !!
That said, Warthog did an efficient job an a fit looking Andy who had every right to slip but didn't. 3/1 to the big ugly beast.
Sweaty Sock v Pete
Didn't see much of this but Pete was his usual hard working self but playing a tighter game than I've seen from him in recent seasons. To many errors at the front from Sweaty which cost him dear in the end. A good scalp for Pete me thinks.
Debt Collector v Aiden
Last time I played Sundridge I was confronted buy the largest frog (frenchman)ever to appear on a squash court. This time I get the youngest, leanest whipper snapper in the league. What will Justin muster up for me next time !
Aiden was up for the contest but he didn't gamble on being bored to death. Result a comfortable 3 zip for DC and a nice snooze for Aiden.
Grim Reaper v Ray
Very strange game to mark and watch. I don't think I have ever awarded so many strokes in one match. About 20 is my estimation ! A very disjointed affair with Reaper making more mistakes in one night than he did for the whole of last season. That said, he got the result. You know what they say about playing badly and winning.
Numbnuts v Justin
With Numbnuts fit and well again this was always going to be a tough ask for a game Justin. Usual stupid retreaving from Numbnuts and a comfortable 3/0 win.
So a good night for the ugly bunch against an injury riddled Sundridge team. An early night by priory standards being all done and dusted by 9.45. Thank god it wasn't girls scoring otherwise we would have packed up by about 8.30. No good for anyone unless your old man Steeden who could have got home sharp and gained a fist full of brownie points from she who must be obeyed !! (over to you M.S.) |
