Report: | Well played Biggin Hill. A tight contest as the game scores show with the numbers 1, 2 and 4 matches sliding one way then the other.
Jack versus Will was a match between skill and speed. Jack over elaborated at 9-8 up in the second allowing Will to regain his serve and take the game to level it. Jack's great strength is his domination of the T but Will's speed around teh court and his fitness slowly shifted Jack out of his comfort zone and down the slipper slope of defeat in five games.
Next on the number 4 seeds and Nick raced to a 7-2 lead, only for that to be clawed back and at 8-8 he set 1 only to tin his return of serve. The next game was a quick affair 9-3 to the home team before things started to go awry. Nick swept away in the third game to go 6-0 up before his opponent slithered back into the match to draw level at 6-6, but failed to progress further and Nick took the game 9-6. In the 4th game it was the Biggin Hill lad's turn to slide to a 1-6 deficit before climbing the greasy pole to level and then nudge ahead to take the game and make it 2-2. Nick then hit well enough to take the match 3-2 without any slip ups.
Olly took on Stuart on the other court and faced a barrage of hard hitting to go down 3-1. Nic used hard hitting of his own to sweep away Simon 3-0 leaving the number 1s to perform their dance on ice.
Top match this turned out to be. Ant hitting hard and retrieving evrything against the skill of Jon. Jon is discovering that he might need to improve his fitness a little to dominate the top spot in his first season in this competition. Eventually Jon's skill and control of the ball saw him skidding home with a 3-2 win.
The top two are running away at this stage of proceedings but the next four places or so are providing an interesting challenge. We look forward to the new year and all the return matches. |
