Report

Report:Well I have no idea who we have upset at Langley Towers but for the umpteenth time we were banished to the back end of the moon (O/D's)for our home fixture. You know things arn't quite right when you wonder in around 10.30 back at P/L and the staff ask for proof of membership !!
Still, we don't care. We'll show these toffs we can play where ever they put us. Ha

Sweaty Sock v Jim
Didn't see a shot but not hugely suprised by the result. Playing in the same team as Jim in Outer Kent, I've seen enough of him to know Sweaty was needing a big ask to get a result here.
All done and dusted pretty quickly but not as quick as the match next door.

Debt Collector v Andy
Now DC has probably been playing this game for too long and over the years has seen pretty much most scenarios that can happen in a match, but every now and again a game like this comes along. (fortunately for me not too often).
I should have know from my first serve, Andy stuck it straight in the nick. This happened almost every point. I won't say rally as we didn't have any ! I think the most shots was 4 and that was only a couple of times. I can't honestly say I played badly as I only hit the ball about 25 times. Virtualy every point ended with a winner an inch above the tin or a straight nick.
So this was all done in 20 minutes max (About the same time as a 5 setter with par scoring) You can either smile or weep with a game like that. I smiled on the night and I still am. (bet he can't do it again though !)

Zimbabwean Worthog v Richard.
So the ugly bunch 2 down and in big trouble.
Worthog was not sending out positive vibes when he went on court due to not vitually playing any squash at the moment due to expectant wife. (I never can understand that policy. why does the bloke stop everything he's doing. He's not having the sprog (Although in Warthogs case, maybe he is !) Anyway, it wasn't pretty but the big fella got the job done in 3 which apparently was all he was good for. Well done big boy.

Gastric Band v Nanu
This one always looked like it would go to 5 even though Gastric went 2 zip up. He never looked totally comfortable and Nanu wasn't about to throw the towel in. Nanu worked his wotsits off in the 3rd and took total control in the 4th at which point, things were looking decidedly dodgy for Gastric and the overall result. DC gave a chest thumping speech but more importantly, Gastric wound the band up one more notch, went back on court and whacked the hell out of the little black thing which caught Nanu a little by suprise and crucual errors crept into his game.
A top result for Gastric as he really did look like he was going down. Well played Nanu, this could have gone either way and game of the night in my opinion.

Numbnuts v Ron
Didn't see the first but Numbnuts assured me he was on fire. Well the fire soon went out and Ron upped his game and sneaked the 2nd. The 3rd was pretty much nip and tuck but Numbnuts took the crucial points at the back end of the game after some truely gut busting rallies at 5/5.
The fourth saw Numbnuts keep the pressure on and Ron started leaking errors. At 8/0 Numbnuts floated a lovely crosscourt volly into the nick to finish things. (bloody jammy I reckon)

So a tough scrap which the ugly bunch sneaked. It wasn't pretty (like the team) but sometimes you just have to take the win any way you can.
That said, although we have only lost once this season, it's fair to say we have had a hell of a lot of results this season which have been won in the same manner which really does confirm the strength in depth of the teams in div 2 this year.
So with the win in the bag it was a quick dive back to P/L to watch how the game should be played and give a bit of support to the first team glamour boys. They deserve the plaudits though as they ground out a top result against a tough Rodmersham team which hopefully will bring them the title.

Oh that reminds me, we won the league tonight. Well played lads.
