Report: | Not much of a report this week as I'm busy learning my new job.
Me v Matt - Matt stepped up to the plate as usual number 1, Steff, was on a plane somewhere. Matt would have looked more at home on a basketball court given his height. Although I decided early on that any lob shots were out of the question, I did forget during one rally and was amazed that it cleared Matt's reach and was a winner. I didn't chance it again after that. Although Matt made a game of it, I always felt I had the edge even though my drop shots were crap. 3-0 to me.
Keeley v Richard - Richard's slightly un-orthodoxed style caught Keeley out in the first game. A few wise words from Ali McCoach saw Keeley turn it around to win the match 3-1.
Nick v Jon - Didn't see any of this but would seem Nick is still some way of his best after an absence through injury. 3-0 to Jon.
Steve v John - Again, didn't see any of this, but my spies tell me a good solid performance by Steve to win 3-0.
Nick v Steve - Waxing lyrical about his recent performances, I was expecting "Chatty Man" to cruise through this match so went for a shower. As I passed McCoach who was leaving, he said, "He's 2-0 down so I'm leaving". A bit premature Mr McCoach. Nick decided to take more of an interest in the match and slowly clawed his way back to win the third game from 6-0 down. Nick then won the fourth to take it to a fifth set decider. When Nick was 8-6 up and serving for the match, Keeley and I both agreed what was going to happen next. Nick would go for some outrageous shots, let Steve back in to take it to a tie break and then Nick would win. We knew this because "Chatty Man" has done this so many times before and so it prove to be once again.
