Report

Report:The final fixture on the Jubilee celebration weekend was the visit of winter champions Park Langley to fortress Burbage Road. Rather than postpone, an early start was agreed, and was definitely enjoyed by all.
Leading the line Captain Garner took on London Jnr. The latter started brightly enough but fairly soon the fireworks started going off as he got frustrated by the pattern of the match. Having eased to 2-0 4/1 Tim took his foot off the gas at the same moment Steve found the accelerator and raced to an 8/5 lead. The battle heated up and after some fast and furious rallies, Tim had just enough in the think tank to edge the game and the match.
Meanwhile Humberto was showing his usual Grace around the court, and coped with Steve’s sometimes unorthodox shot making to secure the straight games win. Jon coped with Beefeater Bushell with equal aplomb and the match result was safe.
JEJ hasn’t done quite enough in the pre-summer season break, and while he displayed his usual guile and shot-making, occasionally he also displayed the turning ability of the Spirit of Chartwell and Neil was quick to capitalize. James nicked the second, but Neil was unruffled and closed the match out in four.
Last on Prince Will.i.am was looking to complete the whitewash and moved to a two game lead before Simon dug in his heels picking up the third. Knowing the Corgis would be set upon him if he capitulated; Will steadied the ship and cruised home in four.
There was no sign of boss Harry at Olleys, but as always they served up a feast fit for a King (or Queen) and the early start meant an early finish and plenty of time to catch the Royal (BR) Carriage home.
