Report

Report:Not a lot to report from the local derby as PL2 were unable to locate more than 2 players!

With the result already decided the remaining contingent were playing for pride, which as it turned out they did with aplomb. Nice to see Ken down there as ever despite his problems, along with son Mike and Dave Harris filling up the bleachers. For the away side WW was down showing solidarity, having thankfully already played earlier in the day.

First on Gallard v London jnr.
A combination of Steve being right off his game and Clinton rolling back the years with some great winners and general all round good squash saw a tight match. Steve was all set to call it a day at 1-2 down having injured himself mistiming a kick on the wall(!) and with the frustration at his own ball striking reaching stratospheric levels. A calming word or six from the old man however saw him go back on and successfully implement the old football cliché of one point at a time and forget the outcome of the previous one. In the end Clinton lost the match really. The combination of a few too many mistakes, taking his foot off the gas and maybe a bit of tiredness.

The remaining entertainment - Young v Robbins.
JEJ had Zeb on a (very long) piece of string in this one. Zeb covered a huge amount of court and gave a very good account of himself. JEJ just did his usual, quietly arriving at the ball in plenty of time before dispatching it to some far flung corner of the court. An efficient 3-0 win.

And so that was it. Captain Crocked and Adam (Rich) went on for a gentle tester after match completion before migrating (with WW in tow) to the bar to watch Zeb consume three meals and a plate full of nan bread, in preparation for the supper he had waiting for him at home. The joys of a youthful metabolism.

Full marks to Adam for performing ALL the marking duties on an away match. Well done that man.
