Report

Report:It wasn't IPL or even PL, but Dulwich firsts were pleased to keep their summer pot hunting campaign on track with a hard fought victory over Bromley Cricket. The visitors may not be masters of a line and length, but play with a nagging accuracy that can derail even the most solid forward defensive.

Chris got the home side off to a good start, opening with a straight games victory. Matt battled hard, but Chris controlled most of the play and eased home after three tough games. Sadly the time at the crease hurt Matt, who came down with a nasty migraine and we wish him well in his recovery.

C4 Moore took on Captain Stabler, and the match ebbed and flowed with more than the odd discussion with the umpire. In the absence of tv reviews, the latter came out on top and in the end it was the BCC man who was also victorious in four tough games. Tim and Neil played out an entertaining battled, and it was after seeing Neil slot his fifth forehand return of serve that Tim realised that the Don’ts was serve it loose, and the Doos was make sure it hits the sidewall. Neil saved game balls in the first to win and then lead 5-0, Tim dug in and edged that one and moved to 2-1 before again finding himself under pressure in the fourth. However a couple of half-volleys and he had reached ball before deftly running the ball away to close out the win.

The team match was closed out by Will, who blazed away from the off to take the first. Allowed Jamie to get a strangle hold in the second, before re-asserting his authority in the third and fourth. Last on were Jim and Lewey, and it was certainly a long tail. The Metropolitan Police had started their enquires into irregular betting activity at the local Tandoori as Lewey lost the first in double quick-time. However, he eased into life in the second just getting edged out before starting a his comeback leaving players from both teams to saffa as he reeled Jim in eventually closing out the innings just before the clock struck 11.

It could have been KP Nuts for supper, but Olleys had delivered again and both teams were able to refuel in style. As always a fun fixture with BCC, someone mentioned its just not cricket … its better.
