Report: | Brands Hatch arrived on another energy sapping evening in the Warehouse to face just a four man DL side.
Gilmore and Partridge M were on first, a rematch of a the last meeting between the sides a couple of years ago. In a good natured affair it always looked like the Gilmore stamina might prove the deciding factor and this proved the case once he upped the pace. The conditions seemed to sap Matt’s energy reserves, at one point requiring a mid-game break to find some fresher air to relieve the dizziness. 3-1 Gilmore to reverse the previous scoreline.
In the Smith v Frankson game the spraying around from last week was reined in a little though by marker Carr’s admission ‘not by much’. Still, it made for a fairly even contest that the home man managed to clinch in the fifth.
Snow v Partridge D as per previous encounters saw some decent squash in places punctured by some unforced errors and underlying stamina issues that I think had both players wishing they could turn back the clock to a time when we took these things for granted. The home skipper reached new heights with some lobs making full use of the warehouse’s facilities though it was explained after that there were some ‘visibility issues’ in returning these so maybe their effect was flattered somewhat. Anyway, 3-1 Snow.
Carr v Woodworth was a close knit affair from what I saw with Carr obliging us all to sit through another five setter. However on this occasion the wait was worth it as the home player notched up his first home win of the summer on the new courts to make it maximise the available points for DL.
