Report

Report:After a dismal points return the two weeks previous DL were looking to turn things round against BCC. This was achieved but was more down to a weakened and 4 man BCC team rather than anything special from the home side.

Snow v Stone – Tom turned up in fairly determined mood for another rematch between these two and after sensing that a relatively quick kill might be available set about his work. Some neither wide nor deep play meant that it was essentially 40mins of chasing leather for the home skipper, which might have cleared out some holiday cobwebs but certainly did nothing for the scoreboard as Stone completed a relatively straightforward win.

Whiteman v Roberts – didn’t see any of this, but given the duration and score sheet I can only assume it was relatively one sided with Bromley long tail a little exposed.

Carr v Blackstone – Andy’s “hold the carbs!” diet seems to be paying some dividends in the mobility stakes but the public are wondering if it comes to a five setter if it’s going to see him through. I guess that still remains to be seen since despite a tighter 2nd and 3rd game Carr closed the match out in three games to clinch the points for the home side.

Gilmore v John – Nathan set out quickly and captured the first game fairly promptly before conceding the next two. The fourth saw some decent rallies and a tight finish and after saving a couple of match balls it looked like a deciding game might be on the cards but some good retrieving from a rapidly tiring John saw him clinch it 10-8 to avoid what could have been an interesting finish.

Despite a late start there was plenty of time for some beers to wash down what I saw described in Turkey as ‘jacked’ potatoes. I didn’t however hang about abroad long enough to confirm if that’s what David Lloyd Turkey they insist on serving their members every.single.week as well.
