Report: | A competitive match at numbers 3 and 4 but otherwise this was a typical end of the summer season bash. Chris Wilkes at 2 has had oppoenents retire in his last three matches, which must be a record. However that does explain those dolls he brings to the club and sticks pins into.
Stuart playing at 1 might wish to take up the dark arts himself after having to sensibly concede his rubber due to back pain. We are not going to catch Park Langley in their quest for the championship this season for which congratulations are due (but those 15 points we lost due to me fielding a team in the wrong order against Biggin Hill away might be something I regret in the pub when we have our end of season knees up given the difference between us). So it was better for Stuart to concede than risk being out for the winter season.
I played Graham who turned out to be rather quick at the front of the court, apart from the first game in which he was still getting warmed up. I am thankful for that as this was a close encounter but an enjoyable one and I look forward to the return in the winter.
Olly meanwhile took on Andy who is great at the back of court hitting winners to the front of court. Olly however was moving well enough to cancel out Andy's style and took that game 3-1.
That left Andrew Dawes, one of the Dulwich old skool against Nanu Bhana his counterpart from Bexley. Both are tall men though Andrew took greater advantage of his reach in running Nanu from one diagonal tom the other other to bring Dulwich home 4 rubbers to 1.
This has been a thoroughly enjoyable season. The sign of a good season is when everyone is lining up to play all the matches against all the clubs. Great stuff and see everyone next season in a month's time. I should also add our commendation to the new organisers who took over an impossibly difficult job this summer.
