Report: | So did Gordon lose 3-1 rather than 3-2 on purpose so that it couldn't go down as the longest team match ever ?
"It has been a dammed nice thing - the nearest run thing you ever saw in your life"
First up, Martin and Dean: it seemed to take Dean a while to get going before turning it into a marathon.
Other court: James the Elder Wilde v James the Young Pretender Evans. Lots of tight rallies, attempted winners, phenominal retrieving, mistakes ( of the tinning nature ), and James the Younger looking sharper at the end of the 4th. But James the Elder maybe showed some experience and came out v strong, hitting a lot of very attacking balls to take the 5th.
Ted, I brought my own kit but still borrowed a racket, versus Captain Jolly one. Ted pulled something in his groin ( ok, everyone stop sniggering ) early on, which Jolyon didn't try and exploit ( much, only 9 out of 10 shots ). But Ted played through the injury ( avoiding moving whenever possible ) when I think almost anyone else would have stopped playing !
Ket, I like running versus Colin, I hate running. As expected Ket running, Colin stepping and hitting attacking balls. Ket managed to keep him on court long enough for the error rate to exceed the winning rate.
So last on Might Mac versus Jonny. Less than mighty, Gordon's excuse was a long day ( are his longer than ours ? ) but it still took forever. Last men off after 11.00 !!!
But Bromley LTS first win of the season |
