Report: | A short-handed PL1 entertained (if that's the right word), the D.Lloyd/Bromley LTC combo last night.
A bit of a drubbing I'm afraid.
First up Pratt v Jeal.
I didn't see a ball of this one, so will have to rely on Jamie's assessment "the worst game of squash I've ever seen. Each player seemed to be in a competition to see who could play the most top spin shots down the middle of the court whilst looking in the opposite direction". Nuff said, and WW admitting he just wasn't in the right frame of mind.
Out in the backwoods - London snr v Patel.
A total contrast in temperature on the two courts, with court 4 being warm and very bouncy. The author really couldn't get to grips with Ket's game for the first two games. In the 3rd things looked like they might be changing but after getting to 6-4 up normal service was resumed to see Ket win comfortably enough.
After the WW v Jeal game, Nickalls v Snow.
Definitely the best game of the evening as Tom once again turned in a gutsy performance with the key point, after sharing the first two games, coming in a tight finish to the 3rd, snuck by Martin. After that a reasonably comfortable 4th saw the DL/BLTC man home.
Last on back out in the wilds, Robbins v Wilde.
A combination of a double crocked JEJ and Jamie on storming form saw this one done and dusted in double quick time. Jamie's shots were pretty much unplayable really and JEJ was struggling from the off. Tight drops and lengths combined with powerful kills was a recipe for a short match and an end to the evening's proceeding as PL were unable to field a 5th player.
And so to the bar - or not. Bit of a tumbleweed experience as many absented themselves (including Ket's chauffeur Ted who just disappeared leaving Ket to make his own way back). Ket and Gordon had a quick knock before turning up for the 2nd sitting.
Another miserable night for PL I'm afraid. |
