Report

Report:Another woeful evening for PL as they entertained T.Wells last night. Back to full strength for the first time in aeons, and with T.Wells short of their no.2, hopes started off high. Sadly though it was a pretty dispirited attempt all round by PL.

First on London snr v Powell.
The usual pattern of late. The author really struggling to stop huge runs of points leaching away at a time. Honours even after two games, then Jonny blitzed the 3rd, and just as the author thought things might be turning with a 6-2 lead in the 4th, a run of points disappeared again as Jonny piled back in to capitalise on a couple of fortunate bounces, and bang - match over.

Next door and over in double quick time - Pratt v Payne.
Didn't see a ball of this (didn't even realise they were at the club until later). Steve looks to have started well and judging by the 3rd game scoreline faded somewhat, so all those bright early hopes were looking pretty sorry by this stage.

Next up London jnr v Evans.
After a bright start and a big lead in the 1st for Steve, James started to use his incredible speed round the court to good effect, coming back to take the game. Steve got the 2nd back and got to game ball in the 3rd, but after that too slipped away it was one way traffic as Steve struggled with his movement, ending up on his back on several occasions.

Next door Thompson v Newberry.
Saw a little of this out of the corner of my eye whilst marking next door. Martin got off to his customary fast start, and Dean his usual slow one, but the tide turned after the first, as the momentum trajectories crossed, with Martin struggling with fitness (so he tells me). When playing the Duracell bunny - not good. Deano duly wrapped it up.

Last on Robbins v Head.
Over the years, Jolyon has been reeled in from 2-0 up on many occasions by JEJ so when he duly went up again, we all thought we knew what was coming. Not to be this time though. Jolyon really turned it on to stem the fight back in the 4th and complete a good evening's work for TW.

Very thinly attended bar afterwards with many departing early for the long journey home.
