Report

Report: With the summer season more like the winter down under, Dulwich 1st welcomed old adversaries Park Langley 1st to the Giant Arches Bowl. First up, Neil took on JEJ, who probably hasn’t been getting just enough sleep since becoming a Dad last month but still put in a performance that had the gallery enthralled. Neil snuck the first, edged the second and got pipped in the third. In the fourth it was nip and ruck all way to 7-7 before Neil sprinted clear.

Meanwhile, Clive was gave Ben a lesson in the first but Grinnell is never one to Bowe to the pressure and came back fighting in the second. Clive eased ahead to again comfortably take the third but Ben was back for more in the fourth. Almost like a line-out call it was back on track in fifth for Clive as he closed out the match to level things up.

Tim tried to Hogg the T as much as possible in the first against Steve, clearly trying to avoid forays in to the corners but after winning that, it was Steve that came out stronger in the second jumping to 8/3 and although Tim got back to 9/10 the damage was done and it was one apiece. Steve was mainly ahead in the third, but a broken string at 9-9 helped the Duwlich captain not only go to game ball but also to a much needed breather while Steve changed his racket! At two one up there only ever looked to be one winner and Tim got home in four quality games.

Across the way, fresh from warm weather training and pina coladas, Andy was keeping a stranglehold on his match with Zeb. A couple of 11/9s to the good and Andy kicked for home to close things out in 3. On his return from a Swiss sabbatical, Jim had a tough task in the form of Simon. He battled hard but was always second Best to the Park Langley no.3 and ended up on the wring side of the try line.

So a tough and enjoyable match was rounded off with Olleys finest Fish & Chips, no Lions in sight.
