Report: | The match kicked off at 7.30p.m. with the second rubber which Dulwich won and ended at 9.45p.m. with the fourth rubber, which Dulwich lost but ensured that food was eaten and we were safely at home by a reasonable hour.
First on court was Jon Barnes and Zeb Young. Jon floated the ball around dictating the pace to take the first game. Zeb forced some power into the second game but Jon wrestled back control in the match a0d take it 3-1.
Next on were Chris and Adam. Neither are great fans of long rallies but their four sets lasted a respectable 45 minutes. Chris seemed to enjoy the noise the tin was making but with some grace and skill managed to keep his winning shots count just above the tin count. Dulwich now had shot into a 2-0 lead.
The top seeds then went on for their cameo. Simon proved to be far too strong for Chris and was barely sweating as he came off court a 3-0 winner. Difficult to see much between Simon, James and Steve at the top end of PL.
That brought on London Snr against a far younger Will. Will leapt into a 2-0 lead but by now the wily London Snr had worked him out and then started to work him around the court. Having clawed back one game the fourth game hung in the balance until the last two points when a disputed call may have upset London Snr's rhythm. A good win for Will who is learning the trade in division 1 with each match. That gave Dulwich the match leaving the fourth seeds to play the night out.
Finally we saw Dave versus Martin and the only five setter of the evening. Eventually Martin's experience saw him take the fifth game 11-9 and Dulwich winning 3-2 in a closely fought and enjoyable encounter. |
