Report

Report:Another night of reduced personnel unfortunately for PL as they entertained BCC.

First on: Young v Ryall
Zeb hung in well for a game and a half with both players putting together some good squash. After sneaking the 1st at the death, Zeb was unable to continue with the same at the end of the 2nd as a few mistakes crept in on vital points. After this Zeb cut a fairly dejected figure in the 3rd as the depleted energy levels saw a rest game being taken. Despite a valiant rearguard action in the 4th, it wasn't enough and Lewy scampered around the court in his usual nimble fashion to take the match.

Back out on court 4: Pratt v Stabler
All I saw of Steve on the night was the 30 seconds where he arrived, got told he was straight on and promptly played and then disappeared. So, just another normal scenario. Despite not seeing a ball of this, it appears WW put in a good shift but in the final straight was unable to make it.

Next on court 3: London snr v McMecken.
A fairly routine game in hot pingy conditions. The author was in there in all the games, but James always had the edge, powering away some good winners and dinking in some good drops particularly from the back. More consistency and speed needed for PL's El Cap I'm afraid.

Back out in the wilds: Nickalls v Henley
Super-sub Tom very narrowly failed to convert a good win in this one. Saw about four rallies as Tom snuck the 3rd game, but it looks to have been a very tightly contested 4th and 5th, with Ed just doing enough to scrape through in both.

And finally a chance to save some face: Culver v Baker
A good contest. Simon looking slightly under par at times and feeling unable to push as hard as normal, and Neil dictating large passages of play. Every game apart from the 4th was hotly contested, with Neil controlling things well except at the end of the games where a few crucial mistakes were all it look to let Simon back in. Nevertheless, good squash for the increasing band of spectators as the match wore on, and a bit of face saved for PL in the end.

Not a huge amount of time left in the bar due to a fairly late finish, but enough for Ed to hoover up some seconds.
