Report

Report:It was slightly Bach to front at Giant Arches as Bromley Cricket looked to keep their title push on track, while Dulwich were looking for a win and results to go our way elsewhere to stay in the hunt.

Neil turned up keen to rumble, but sadly his shoulder hadn’t got the memo and early on it was clear that he was struggling. Despite cleverly working the ball up and down the backhand wall he wasn’t able to make any inroads and Tim ran out the victor in three.

It was ding ding round two for Jim& Sam after a big battle in the first half and the opener didn’t disappoint. The Softball was moved around court, often more adeptly than the bodies as a few traffic problems developed much to the delight of the crowd. Jim edged it 15/13 and although Sam remained competitive through out Jim closed out the match to put Dulwich up by two.

However, BCC were far from done James began brightly running Rings around Will in the first two. Will has had the better of their encounters in recent years and having sneaked the third he looked to be back on track, but James was quick to squash the comeback with an impressive fourth and pull one back.

Meanwhile Antonio & Matt were Wrestling for the T on the adjacent court, with the former getting the better of it early on. But if I had a Pound for every time I have seen Matt battle back, then I would have atleast a tenner and I am not being a Dick. And once again he dug deep to drag out a five set win and set up a decider as well as keeping the BCC gold medal hunt alive.

Andy started well in the final rubber, coming out of blocks fast and taking the first. But as is his way Lewis’ 2020 vision seemed to get him on t the ball very early in the second and enabled him to find those angles that leave his opponent struggling in their wake. Having leveled things up he was always in control and closed out a crucial win to ensure the league title goes to the final ballot.

Despite having been in the food hot-seat on many occasions, Will was the night’s Roggue managing to end up 3 meals shy of the full 10, so it wasn’t even I’m alright Jacques as he missed out along with a couple of his team-mates in ensuring the visitors to enjoy the Olleympics fish & chips. As we know, Squash wasn’t the winner, but another evening playing sport at its best was great fun!
