Report

Report:So the last game of the season BCC I host Bexley 1st team with only 1 point between the two teams. A victory forever team will mean they walk away becoming Kent Summer Division 1 champions.

As hosts BCC made sure we had as much help as possible. A great turn out of support came along to cheer them on, with both courts packed. Even when one of the home supporters shouted out to Neil Baker ‘Don’t worry Neil, you’ll going lose anyway’.

Sam vs Josh first up.
Sam started off strong with some tight lengths and taking the lead in the first game, but it didn’t last long. With some great retrieving from Josh and playing every rally tight down the wall, Sam started to struggle, coming back to win the first 11/6. As the games went on, Sam started to make more mistakes due to the intense pressure from Josh. Josh went onto winning the next two games 5 & 2.

Lewis vs Brad.
Didn’t see much of this game, as I was on the other court and not to mention there was no room at the gallery.
This was always going to be tough match for both players, especially when the pressure was on Lewis & Brad for a must win game. Each player was retrieving well and playing some great shots. But Lewis held out to win 3/2 11/8 in the 5th.

James vs Matt.
This match could of gone ever way. James started well playing some great tight shots and was determined to do well. But as the games went on James started to get tired and Matt played a tighter game with less mistakes, pulling it back to 2 games all. In the 5th game Matt started to hit the tin again, with James battling through to win it 11/7.

Neil vs Ben.
Unfortunately I didn’t see any of this match, but from what I heard from the supporters, it was a good match to watch and from the looks of the score line, it was a tight match. Ben winning 3/0.

Matt vs Jack
So last match of the season and it was all down to the No.5’s to win the league.
Again I missed the first couple of games, but as usually Matt didn’t get going till the third game, losing the first two 3 & 5. With the crowd behind Matt, he dug in and started to retrieve well, making Jack play some mistakes winning 11/6. This was going down to the wirer. The fourth game was going point for point with Matt working a lot harder than Jack. By the time it went to 9/9 jack started playing great lengths and playing the odd boost to put even more pressure on Matt. In the end jack won the match and title 11/9.

What a good way to end the season with the top two teams fighting it out for the title in front of a great crowd. Both teams finished off with what I think are the best food in the league, tucking into a nice roast dinner and with some carrot cake to top it off.

Congratulations to Bexley for winning the summer 2013 title.
