Report: | Jamie first on and 45 minutes later, first off with a 3-1 win after an awesome display of shot playing by both players. Not many matches at this level last 45 minutes unless both men are out to shoot for the nick.
Meanwhile Will took on Jonny who seemed to be aching a little after a marathon match in the Sussex league. This was a match at a different pace to the rest and Will managed to take it 3-0 by keeping Jonny running, much to his frustration.
Then on came Dave and Dean in a match that resembeled a wild west shoot out with Dave shooting mostly from the hip. When his shots hit they looked good - and he won - the first game. But when they missed the poor tin took a beating as did Dave over the next three games losing 1-3.
Chris and Jolyon again played a fast paced hard hitting match but the hitting here was of the more accurate variety. Jolyon took the first after a tough struggle from 8-10 down to level at 10-10 and then win teh first game 17-15. Chris changed tactics to move his oppoenent around at pace and the match flowed in his favour giving him a 3-1 victory.
That left Colin and Neal to fight out the final game, Dulwich having taken the match. Colin stormed the first game and the spectators had their money on him. Neal had other ideas and played straight and fast moving Colin up and down the court which seemed to tire him out. Dulwich took the tie 4-1 and that was not the only surprise as we sat down to spaghetti bolognese and salad rather than Olley's with an ale or two to end an enjoyable evening. |
