Report

Report:Apparently one of the top 5 attractions in London this week was taking place in SE24, and though hordes of people arrived in anticipation of the Brockwell Park Fireworks only the lucky few found the on-court fireworks in the top of the table clash between Dulwich and Bexley.

Despite giving up over 50 cumulative years to their opponents the home side were keen to get a win knowing full well that they will become tougher to come by as the months pass! First up, Paul took on the hard hitting Ant, a tight first was edged by the latter and he eased away to take the second. Ant got off to another good start in the third but Paul pulled it back before finally succumbing to a Guy in good form.

Across the way Jim had decided that he liked the long sock look but that a calf support for a slightly tweaked muscle was the best way to test it out. There weren’t many Fireworks in this encounter with Jim methodically working Jack around the court and for the most part in control during his straight games win.

Neil had voluntarily dropped himself last week off the back of a stag do to Barcelona the previous weekend, but was in good form against Brad who had secured a top 4 finish at the weekends U17 nationals. Its more Gaudi than the Houses of Parliament in Barca but the break surprisingly did Neil good as he got home in three.

Meanwhile his brother Josh was trying to put out another Bonfire as Tim got off to a quick start in the first string battle. Having lost the first couple Josh kept his head well and opened up a lead in the third but was unlucky with a couple of balls that squeezed down the middle and the chance was gone.

Last up Will took on Shaun in a titanic tussle to round off the nights proceedings. Shaun led 2-1 but Will bounced back to level it up and as the match seemed destined for a tie-break Shaun Blew Up and Will eased home.

The aforementioned display had clearly got Olleys at full capacity, so feeling like a bit of a Traitor we had to order up some from a local rival. As always there were no knives and Fawkes but the food was adequate and another fun evening drew to a close.
