Report

Report:There's going to be a bit of secondhand reporting here as I didn't see too much of three of the matches.

First up were Adam and Lee. Adam started really well with his new brand of disciplined play until 6-2 up in the first. The wheels then came off spectacularly. Lee got into his stride and ran down everything. Adam managed a mini-comeback in the 3rd from 2-7 to 8-7 but his heart wasn't really in it and Lee ran out a deserved winner.

On the other court, PL whirlwind was playing Joss (still reeling from the pressure of the star billing heaped on him by his captain). Steve had a bit too much for Joss tonight, and eventually managed to overcome his boredom at being forced to play a sensible game. Joss (apparently) hobbled about from one injury to the next and didn't have an answer on the night.

Next up were Clive and Matt. This was a reprise of a number of their recent encounters. After a dire knock-up, and with motivation levels seemingly struggling to raise themselves above floor level, Matt started off poorly (for four points). Clive having already decided this meant it was going to be an easy evening, was in for a big shock. Matt changed up a few gears and put the ball away with monotonous regularity. After getting to 2-0 down though, the anger level built up enough for Clive to start playing some better squash, and he managed to wrest the initiative back to run out a 3-2 winner again.

Matt apparently dispatched Robert in comprehensive fashion. Robert's analysis when asked how it went was along the lines of "I was awful, he was far too good, and won easily". Nuff said really.

I only caught the last few points of Steve L v Steve F. Seemed to be another controlled display. The young legs and phenomenal retrieving won through (again) though Steve F apparently made it tough as one would expect.

To summarise then, the PL juggernaut rumbles on. The erstwhile champs, and champs in waiting, seem at this stage to be struggling, but it's early days, so I won't go off on a pretty-boy rant just yet.
