Report

Report:Well cascades really pulled out a star-studded line up this evening.

Mo Soloiman, the ex Fitness First front man at 1, meant the usual suspects would all be playing one down. We knew the good honest non ringer side that Biggin Hill is, would really need to fight this one out.

Fifth strings Wanford and Taleb battled out a crash bang wallop match that seemed, according to the score line, to be up and down like a yo yo. Unfortunately another 3-2 loss for the ever improving Wanford - just a few more hard matches and we've got a banker at 5.

1 up for the Cascadians..

On the other court, a Lennox faced Lamprell, a cool customer with deft nick shots ready to pulled at any given opportunity. Lennox's attempt to injure his opponent by hitting the ball at him in the warm up proved to be just the ticket as Lamprell made a god damn awful start losing the first two games. A slight blip in the third was tidied up by Lennox in the fourth, 3-1 after extra time.

Fourth Strings Lane and ex No 2 Tony Lake gradually beat the hell out of each other (and those poor squash balls - one ended it's days stuck in a light) until a victor emerged. The victor was infact Victor Meldrew (John Lane), as he lost and then legged it claiming he had to be up at 4am.

Third strings Bushell and Tomlyn were looking pretty evenly matched in the warm up, but not so in the first two games. Bushell took complete control winning the first easily and second fairly comfortably. The match seemed to follow that pattern as Tomlyn got faster, more accurate, and more vocal it had to be said. After winning the next two games, Tomlyn reached 6/3 and looked like securing the match until Bushell reached into the seriously depleting reserves to pull out his finest victory in a long time. The overall match now was 2-2 with just the number 1's to play.

Gordon (I'm going to give this sh*t up) McManus v Mo (I’m injured, no I’m not, yes I am..) Soliman.
The latter comment reflective of Mo's ability to fight past his evident pain in what turned out to be a great five setter.
Soliman still as speedy and accurate as he ever was took the first 9/7 with McManus stepping up the pressure to win the next 2 with relative ease. The fourth was crucial for McManus but too many simple tins made Soliman's life just that much easier as he acclimatised himself to the prospect he could actually win this thing. The fifth was tight and although McManus took a 4-0 lead, it was Soliman who made the least errors and ultimately won the match for the home side.

All in all a very tight match between two very teams that are going to be very hard to break down.

Last word has to be on the magnificent spread laid on for us chaps, tortilla’s, fajita's, curry, pizza's bit's, and of course Gordon's veggie burger, which was devoured by Taleb - sorry to be a grass!
